Grand Opening!

I'm proud to announce that after a bit of a hiatus I am back, and gabeclogston.com is back as well. But things are a little different now. GabeClogston.com is sort of a behind the scene site where I will preach the word of Gabe and provide as much insite as I can offer on what is going down. My new site Awesometown-news.com will be where all the fun stuff happens, including new comics on a semi-regular basis. I'm sure everyone has questions, so I'll do my best to answer them with a bit of back story.

About a year ago I got very frustrated, I became sort of erratic and I had a hard time focusing on a single project. Alot of this was stress because of my job at the time, and alot of it was me trying to figure out what was happening to my group of friends which Shrimp Chips was based on. Essentially LIFE happened, and as per usual things changed, because of these changes it became very hard for me to continue producing Shrimp Chips as it was up until then, and rather than adapt, I closed down shop. I know now what a mistake this was, but I guess hindsight is 20/20.

After Shrimp Chips I tried to force out a rushed version of my epic murder mystery idea... which I scared away from after realizing that not only was time going to be an issue with the art heavy pages, but I was not prepared to pour my heart and soul into the details that were SO very important in that sort of story. Once I walked away from Jack of Spades with my tale between my legs I tried to go home again... before Shrimp Chips there was my first attempt ever in the web comic field called Tales from the Pub, a story which had sat unfinished for a long time. I hyped myself up, and I returned to the place it all began... it felt great. the pages looked amazing, my best work yet, I couldn't wait to hear them singing my praises at the return of their favorite comic. Which they did, everyone loved it. However I had sort of hyped myself up TOO much and it all crashed down around me.

I didn't want to be working on Tales from the Pub again, I just wanted to feel the acceptance that was always showered upon Tales from the Pub again, and once I had, it was bittersweet. So I took a break, a real break, I gathered my head, I moved, I started a new job, I made new friends, and now I can say I am officially happy again. And with this newfound happiness came a sort of clarity and I realized that there is one project that I enjoyed working on weather I was happy, depressed, tired, stressed, even hung over... I never cared much about how many people read it and I never cared about the amount of attention and adoration it may have gathered... I made it for myself, I made it for my friends, and I would have made it even if I didn't put it online. I was just too stubborned to have realized this before.

Shrimp Chips can never return, same as I can't go back in time to when the crew would get together every week (no matter what) for "Super Saturday". However Shrimp Chips can live on, all it takes is me fixing my mistake and adapting to the times. Shrimp Chips Presents Awesometown, follows Gabe as he moves on. Since it was always much easier to write myself than the other characters, Gabe was always the dominant character in the comic, and it is only natural that the comic now focus on him. Hopefully his new adventures can capture at least 1/4 of the magic that the old series delivered on a regular basis, and hopefully new and old fans enjoy what is coming. I'll stop rambling now and let you get to the comics, the link on the site titled "Awesometown" will bring you where you need to go. Enjoy.
